The municipal archives. Project initiated by the Center for Montañeses Studies in 1945, resumed and updated since the year 2015.
In the year 1945, in the face of the loss of massive documentation in historical archives in the region, the Center for Mountain Studies, start in agreement with the Provincial Council of Santander a campaign to preserve and organize the historical documentation of the province's municipalities. As a result, essential documentary collections for historical studies of Cantabria were incorporated into the AHP., The control templates and indexes sent by 66 of the 102 town halls.
He 2015 We resumed the project with the purpose of raising awareness among municipal officials of the interest in conserving, organize and digitize its historical documentation and place the preserved funds once converted to digital support in the official documentary centers and in our archive of the Center for Montañeses Studies available to all interested parties. The referred documentation can can be consulted in the list that follows and its originals in the Center for Montañeses Studies Fund deposited in the Historical Archive of Cantabria.
We will incorporate in each municipality, the thematic casts extracted from his archive, when we receive news of its existence, the authorization of the author or owner is available and it can be digitized.
As a reference work, for having marked the beginning of the contemporary policy of updating the documentary heritage of the historical archives of the Local Administration of Cantabria, the work published in 1999 by the Ministry of Culture and Sports File Organization 1998-1999, which collects indexing and status of the Alfoz de Lloredo archives, Piélagos, Reinosa, San Vicente de la Barquera, Santoña, Sweating, Powerfully, Ruiz de Villegas Fund (Pedroso Castle), Ceballos mansion (San Pedro de Bedoya, Liébana), José del Río Sainz Fund “Pick”, Santander Port Authority, Barreda Fund, Naviera Pérez y Cía Fund. and Civil Government Fund of Cantabria, that we point out in the relationship that continues without including digital content.
