Today's day, 20 January 2018, It is a very special mourning for our association, Well, we have just received the news of the death of María del Carmen González Echegaray (It would hardly be necessary to put the surnames here, Well, in this house, by saying María del Carmen we all knew who we were referring to.).
Since his entry in the year 1967 and until the ailments of age prevented her from approaching our headquarters, María del Carmen has been a key piece in the life and activities of the Center for Montañeses Studies: Attending practically all academic meetings, living the day to day life of the association “from within”, publishing dozens of monographs and works in “Altamira” always as rigorous as pleasant, running the magazine effectively and carefully over many years, participating fully in the organization of symposiums and conferences, giving talks and conferences, etc., etc. And invariably with his contagious enthusiasm, with his overwhelming sympathy, with his open and conciliatory spirit.
In the old CEM headquarters (half a dozen transfers of registered office over the years could also be carried out with solvency thanks, in good part, to her generous work) The corresponding medal of the Royal Academy of History was awarded to him. 3 May 1973 by the then president, Fernando Barreda and Ferrer de la Vega.
