Academic events of the Center for Montañeses Studies since its foundation in 1934.
All academic events are gathered in this section, conferences and similar public screenings organized or carried out by the Center for Montañeses Studies since its creation in 1934 until now. This long period that is slowly approaching the century allows us to observe the changing social and political environments of a 20th century that was especially oscillating in the history of Humanity and prolific in the contribution of knowledge.. In much of the documentation that is linked to the events, the sign of the times that the various generations involved in the historical development of the stage can be clearly distinguished., We hope it is useful for everyone. They serve as an example of the aforementioned adaptations - on some non-trivial occasions- the prior censorship to which people and institutions were subjected after the Spanish War of the 20th century, or the tolerance of the contemporary democratic stage that can be glimpsed - even with some feminist projections- through the vignettes that served as a culmination of the video recordings made to preserve the conferences in the now distant second decade of the 21st century, period also closed to the effects that concern us due to the emergence of the great 'Covid 19' virus pandemic.
More regularly in the three decades of the 21st century, within the protocols of the monthly Academic Boards, The successive heads of the Secretariat of the Center for Montañeses Studies have been systematically preparing los conference summaries imparted, which together provide important and documented information on the extensive topics that the Center covers month by month.. We hope, despite the sign of the times, closely linked to computer networks such as the one in question, to be able to continue maintaining this live and direct contact every month with people interested in the areas and styles of knowledge typical of an entity like the Center for Montañeses Studies.

1967-1976
This period was characterized by the appearance and establishment of the Cultural Institution of Cantabria, body created by the Provincial Council of Santander to channel cultural affairs. It was made up of the institutes Mountain Studies Center -only entity in the institution with its own legal capacity, the Institute of Agricultural Studies, the “Hoyos Sainz” Institute of Ethnography and Folklore, the “Juan de la Cosa” Institute of Maritime Studies, the Institute of Archeology and Prehistory “Sautuola”, the Institute of Literature “”José María de Pereda”, the «Juán de Herrera» Art Institute, the Institute of Legal Studies, Sociological and Teaching «Rafael de Floranes». the Institutes of Industrial Studies, Economics and Sciences "Torres Quevedo" and Bibliography "Carlos Antonio de la Serna y Santander", some with ephemeral careers. With the implementation of the State of Autonomies in the new constitutional period, it was integrated into the Ministry of Culture of the Government Council of Cantabria.. The creation of a second organization called the Institute of Cantabrian Studies, of a markedly financial nature in the cultural structure of the Government of Cantabria, The Cultural Institution of Cantabria was relegated from its cultural prominence until its de facto disappearance at the beginning of the 21st century.. Institution and Institute of Cantabrian Studies are currently extinct.
The circumstances of the rearrangement of cultural institutions in the decade 1967-1976 what concerns us, sometimes not devoid of uncertainties and tensions, they left conferences and similar academic events within the Center for Montañeses Studies without documentary support, It should also be noted an important transfer of prominence to the I.C.C.. of the members of the C.E.M., who in numerous cases became part of the list of Full Directors of the Institution, as documents the list of members of the I.C.C.. what's next, updated per year 1975: DIRECTIVE: D.
